The best response to difficult trading conditions such as those currently being experienced worldwide is to trade yourself out of your problems.

That’s the message that delegates to the forthcoming Institute of Estate Agents (IEASA) conference will be hearing from Paul du Toit, one of an impressive lineup of speakers for the event, which will be taking place at Emperors’ Palace in Johannesburg from 31 August to 2 September.

Du Toit – billed as a mindset shifter – will tell agents how to achieve extraordinary results by learning to leverage their existing business relationships and by implementing changed attitudes for increased productivity.

In similar vein, international sales specialist Bill Gibson will share some “real world” strategies to help agents succeed in a tough economy. He is the author of the highly recommended book “Boost Your Business in any Economy”, and has spoken to over 1m people worldwide including numerous real estate organisations.

Local speakers in the IEASA lineup include property law expert Prof Henk Delport, who will address much of the new and pending legislation impacting the property industry at present, and Dr Karen Deller of the Prior Learning Centre who will illuminate the Recognition of Prior Learning process and explain how agents should tackle the requirements.

“This education update,” says IEASA national president Dr Willie Marais, “is an essential talk for anyone wishing to plan their future in real estate, but delegates to our conference will also be getting much more. We have a schedule packed with interesting and informative presentations that will no doubt inspire agents to overcome the difficulties of the current market.”

Also among the speakers is Durban-based real estate trainer Graham Gavin, author of the popular “Real Estate Power” and SA director of the Richard Robbins International coaching programme. Formerly the broker/ owner of a very successful real estate franchise, Gavin has trained thousands of agents since 1985 and has served on the national CRS council for the past 11 years.

And rounding out the programme will be life and business coach Graham le Sar, storyteller extraordinaire Dr Gcina Mhlope and industry stalwart Gordon Battersby, fresh from his 4 x 4 adventures through Africa.

Socialising and networking opportunities during the conference will include the cocktail party on the opening night of the conference, a Roman-theme party sponsored by mortgage originator Bond Choice and an African-theme formal dinner sponsored by Absa. An accompanying expo, meanwhile, will showcase a wide variety of real estate-related products and will be open from 09h00 to 17h00 on the 1st and 2nd of September

Attendance at the conference and admission to all the networking events is priced from R2250, and there is a range of accommodation packages. More details are available from Linda Webster on 031-563-9147 or Kate Colsell on 021-531-2074 or on www.ieasa.org.za
