World Cup 2010 is no longer here but the effects thereof is still with us. Most real estate gurus were not happy with the sales that took place during this period but do believe that the effect will still show for next 5 to 10 years. “A large percentage of those who came to South Africa from overseas have been impressed by all that we can offer here at the Cape and some are saying that it was the best World Cup ever. Of the 20 or more visitors to whom I have spoken, at least half have said that they will be returning for another visit and all have said that they now have a far more optimistic view of our country and its future.” This according to Lanice Steward, Managing Director of Anne Porter Knight Frank.

Programme Enhancements

New Privileges added to CyberAgent Anywhere
If you log in as admin user you can go to agency setup->Agent defaults
On that page there are various options you can set for each agent.

Agent List - Basically which agents share info with currently selected agents
Property All/Own – Allowed to view/edit own or all
Clients All/Own – allowed to view/edit own or all

View Only Property = If yes, can only view properties and no editing
View Only Contacts= If yes, can only view contact and no editing
View Only Agents= If yes, can only view agent details and no editing

Contacts – Rights =
Own contacts only– can view/edit all own contacts only
View others sellers – can view/edit all own contacts – only view other agents sellers
View buyers only– can view/edit all own contacts – only view other agents buyers
View Others buyers and sellers– can view/edit all own contacts – only view other agents sellers and buyers
View all contacts -– can view all own contacts – only view other agents contacts

Property – Rights
Own property only– can view/edit all own listings only
For Sale or To Rent property – view all listings
For Sale property – view only for sale

Principal’s qualification with the new Estate agency Boards Educational System

Hi my name is Mike Bennett and I have been a principal of a franchise company which during the better times employed nearly 170 agents. I have been a principal for over 12 years and have decided at my age that I will only be working for probably another 5 years. Given my history and expertise I don’t believe that I should be obliged to re-qualify. I do not believe that there is any reason for me or principals of my experience to re-qualify for a qualification that is set by people who don’t have my experience in the industry.

CyberAgent now has an Advert Generator Module

We received so many enquiries about this module that we place this article for the 3rd month;

The idea behind this module is so that the agency can generate its own adverts for newspaper or for distribution as a pamphlet.

The module has 20 templates to choose from.

The templates range from a single listing advert, up to a 30 listing full page advert spread.

Each template has its own top margin, bottom margin, left and right margin images for the agency to setup.( As required by template)

The module is split up in 5 pages.

  • Page 1 is a preview of the template(No data just place holder)
  • Page 2 is Listing selection
  • Page 3 is arranging the advert per listing
  • Page 4 is page setup ( includes company log image file and such)
  • Page 5 is printing the advertisement to screen, printer, pdf or word document.

Each advert campaign is given a name, date published and a template selection.

On the property selection page, you can filter based on certain criteria. You then add the listing to the advert campaign

You can add, remove and reorder the selected listings.

On Page 3 is the advert campaign setup. This includes captions note detail and picture selection


On page 4 is the advert layout page, here you select margin images and company logo if required by template

Page 5 is for printing the advert campaign.

Hetzner email problems:

The managed network in Jhb DC1 experienced severe latency issues on 26 July 2010. Investigation revealed an issue with a core switch on the network, which was causing these latency issues. A decision was made to undergo emergency maintenance at 15h00 to do a hardware replacement. Due to complications while conducting the maintenance, we were only able to restore full service by 21h30.

We would like to sincerely apologize for the protracted maintenance window and the impact that it has had on customers.

Seacom:

South African Internet users experienced high latency to international locations due to a SEACOM fault near Kenya during the month of June and July. This meant that browsing to international websites and receiving email from international sources was problematic.

As a result, local Internet Service Provider's (ISP) have restricted certain types of internet traffic in an effort to manage congestion. Customers who were unable to send email were advised to change their email configuration to make use of their ISP's SMTP settings for the duration of this outage. Please do not hesitate to contact us should you still be experiencing any problems.

SEACOM is the first cable to provide broadband to countries in East Africa. Within Africa, South Africa, Mozambique, Tanzania and Kenya are inter-connected via a protected ring structure. Additionally, a second express fibre pair is provided from South Africa to Kenya. These two fibre pairs have a combined capacity of 1.28Tbs. Express fibre pairs are also provided from Kenya to France into a PoP in Marseilles, and from Tanzania to India into the PoP in Mumbai. SEACOM has procured fibre capacity from Marseilles to London as part the SEACOM network.

SEACOM is a privately funded and over three quarter African owned undersea fibre optic cable that is assisting communication carriers in south and east Africa through the sale of wholesale international capacity to global networks via India and Europe. The fibre optic cable system provides African retail carriers with equal and open access to inexpensive bandwidth, removing the international infrastructure bottleneck and supporting east and southern African economic growth.

SEACOM's enormous capacity will enable high definition TV, peer to peer networks, IPTV, and surging Internet demand.

South African internet users may still be experiencing slow connections to Internationally hosted Internet services due to the Seacom fault. Local ISP's have throttled peer-to-peer traffic in an effort to manage congestion. Sending mail via port 587 was affected and customers was advised to use their ISP's SMTP settings. Do not hesitate to contact us should you still be experiencing problems.

We often encounter the above problem where there is no email or no contact number for the agent. This is due to the agent’s detail that is not loaded correctly in the “Agent Manager”. The “Agent Manager” enables you to manage your agents and links them automatically throughout the CyberAgent programme. Make sure that from the start their details are loaded correctly to avoid further work and problems like with commissions.
