Word from the editor

Dear CyberAgent user,

It’s by now old news that Services Seta and the Estate Agency Affairs Board has settled their differences. However the fact that SSETA has decided to suspend its bursary programme for real estate agents working towards their RPL, NQF4 and NQF5 qualifications still remains a problem and many real estate agents are still angry.

In short, there is currently no financial help available for existing agents who need training to obtain the new qualifications – which they are required by law to have before the end of 2011 - and many of the agents who are ready to undertake this training are now in limbo.” IEASA national president Dr Willie Marais.

Earlier this month the Reserve Bank surprises us all by cutting lending rates to its lowest in more than three years. One of the factors that was taken in consideration was the “suffering” of the real estate market. Property experts now believe that the residential market has bottomed out and busy mending. Do you agree?

It doesn’t matter if your answer is yes or no. What does matter is that it is vital that you use the right software solution for your real estate agents in your real estate office. We believe that our CyberAgent application not only combines the best technologies but also offers you a superior software package for selling your properties easily and effectively. Furthermore you are adding an edge to your real estate office that will makes it more competitive and allows you to attract the buyers that you need in today’s property market. CyberAgent consists of 11 modules and updates your properties to 50+ affiliated websites. If you are not sure how to use your application or need to know more about any of the modules email our support desk right away, support@cyberprop.com.

It’s with sadness in our hearts that we have to inform you that after 6 years of service Nolan Roets is leaving the service of CyberAgent. Our best wishes to him and his family!

Good Luck!

Property on the mend

Property experts seem convinced that South Africa's residential market has bottomed and in some areas a marginal increase in demand is being experienced.

Early this month, the Reserve Bank took markets and analysts by surprise, cutting lending rates despite stubborn price pressures in a bid to help jolt the economy out of recession. The Bank's monetary policy committee cut its key repo rate half a percentage point to seven percent — its lowest in more than three years.

From our Support Desk

We trust that you are all well.

Take note that we have released a new Build on CyberAgent. The latest CyberAgent application is on 3.100.1392.

We now have an online spell check available that can help you check the spelling of your note fields. Should you wish to know more about this function please contact the support desk.

We are constantly updating our suburb list to ensure the most correct suburbs. All you need to do is download the suburb list in the “Utilities” menu, select “Database Cleanup” and at the bottom of the new window click the “All” radio option and click “download”. Once this is done, please re-select the suburb for the specific property and “save”. You need to upload all the changes for it to be active/changed on the Internet.

Please do not hesitate to contact us (011) 955-9100 or mail us at support@cyberprop.com

Hetzner reduces traffic over-usage charges!

Hetzner is committed to reducing costs for our customers, passing on cost-saving benefits wherever possible.

With this in mind, we are pleased to announce a significant decrease in the traffic over-usage cost for our Managed Dedicated customers from 1 August 2009:

The traffic over-usage cost was R0.09 per MB; now R0.05 per MB.

By way of example, customers that previously paid R270 for 3 GB of additional traffic over and above the 5 GB quota, will now only pay R150.

Use webmail to filter your mail and manage spam

For those clients who host their email accounts with us Hetzner’s webmail client features a number of interesting tools which you can use to help manage your web-based mail more efficiently:

”Spam” and ”Innocent” reporting tools:

Webmail’s Spam and Innocent reporting buttons are tools you can use to tell us how effective our spam filtering system is. By marking your emails as Spam (unsolicited emails you receive in your inbox which you feel should be sent to the spam bucket) or Innocent (emails you receive in your spam bucket that feel should be sent to your inbox) you are sending an alert to Hetzner which allows us to identify and monitor spam trends.

It is important to note that this feature is purely a reporting tool and does not alter the spam status of your mails. The reports help us to monitor the effectiveness of our spam filtering system so that we can continuously improve its performance.

Blacklisting and Whitelisting – konsoleH vs. Webmail:

Although similar, the Blacklist and Whitelist tools found in webmail behave differently to that of the konsoleH Blacklist and Whitelist tools.

konsoleH

· Blacklist – When you blacklist an address via konsoleH, mails from this address are automatically rejected and will never appear in your inbox regardless of what mail client you are using.

· Whitelist – When you whitelist an address via konsoleH, mails from this address that would normally have been filtered to the spam bucket, will now appear in your inbox regardless of what mail client you are using.

Webmail

· Blacklist – When you blacklist an address via webmail, mails from this address will be filtered to the webmail spam bucket. This action only takes affect within the webmail mail client.

· Whitelist – Webmail allows you to create your own mail filtering rules, this means that mails can be automatically sent to their relevant folder without appearing in the inbox e.g. all mails from @hetzner.co.za must be sent to the “Hetzner” folder. Should there be an exception to the rule you have created e.g. you would like mails from billing@hetzner.co.za to appear in your inbox, then you can whitelist this address so that it once again will appear in your inbox and not the folder

SSETA/EAAB resolution puts the real estate profession in a position to realise it's goals, says Rawson MD

The “amicable and mature” resolution of the disagreements between SSETA (Services Sector Education and Training Authority) and the Estate Agency Affairs Board puts the whole real estate profession back on track towards achieving the advanced educational standards which will be its defining characteristic after 2011, says Tony Clarke, MD of Rawson Properties...

Loss of bursaries angers agents

While welcoming the news that the Services Seta and the Estate Agency Affairs Board are settling their differences, the Institute of Estate Agents (IEASA) is deeply concerned that the bursary scheme for agents wishing to obtain the new industry qualifications is still on hold...

IEASA news - NAR convention beckons SA agents

The Institute of Estate Agents (IEASA) has announced a preferential travel package for South African estate agents wishing to attend the prestigious National Association of Realtors (NAR) convention to be held in San Diego, USA, later this year.

The convention is the world’s biggest real estate gathering and affords agents from around the world the opportunity to get to grips with the latest trends and to network with their international peers..

EAAB - Study guide for the professional estate agent: NQF Level 4

On 17 April 2009 the Estate Agency Affairs Board proudly announced the launch of the Study Guide for the Professional Estate Agent: NQF Level 4, which was an important step for the introduction of the National Qualifications Framework for estate agents.

The publication of the Study Guide represents a significant milestone not only in the education and training but, also, the professionalisation of estate agents.

Although the Study Guide is primarily aimed at non-principal estate agents seeking to attain the Further Education and Training Certificate: Real Estate, whether by way of study or through the undergoing of a Recognition of Prior Learning assessment, it will also be found to be of great value to all practicing estate agents. This comprehensive and authoritative reference work has been affordably priced, especially having regard to the fact that it will be a condition of Board accreditation of both Recognition of Prior Learning Centres and Training Providers alike, that the work prescribed for all learners and/or Recognition of Prior Learning Candidates.

To obtain a copy of the Study Guide please contact Ms Molly Musi on Tel: 011 731 5663 or email her at molly.musi@eaab.org.za. The Two Volume set can also be purchased at the offices of the Board situated in Hyde Park.
